Japan Gets Naked News!

Naked News, which features anchors and reporters who disrobe during newscasts, launched its risqué take on current affairs in Japan. Proclaiming Naked News as "The program with nothing to hide."

The CEO described the service as "a unique concept for the Japanese market." Sunrise, which specializes in sales of goods and services via the Internet, and Naked News owner eGalaxy Multimedia have set a target of 10,000 mobile subscribers in the first year.

"We would not have dared to come to Japan unless we were convinced that there was a definite market, and we now see there is a massive market here, we have a partner that understands that market and the technological skills to provide an enjoyable product," eGalaxy Multimedia Inc. CEO David Warga said.

Since making its debut in Canada in 1999, Naked News has become available via the Internet, television and mobile phones in North America, Australia and Europe. "We believe there is a huge untapped market for the right kind of information if it was properly packaged," Warga said. "So we created a news-entertainment program in which women, and later men, informed while removing their clothing."

The service initially will be news that is provided for Naked News' existing markets but with Japanese subtitles. The plan is eventually to produce content in Japan that will appeal to a larger percentage of the population. Another area being tested concerns the degree of nudity of the presenters. Initially, newscasters will strip to their underwear, but Uchikawa indicated that he hopes to be able to see how far Japanese obscenity broadcasting laws can be bent before they are broken.

Canadian-born presenter Lily Kwan has been peeling off her work clothes for five years and described the experience as "liberating." "I love being able to go out onto the streets and take my clothes off," she said. Nude Painting Of Man- Controversial

The painting of a naked man is causing some concern in Escondido, California. A local artist Robert Ferguson has on display at a gallery on Grand Avenue in the gallery's second floor window that is making some people upset.

It is visible from the street and shows a man, lying on his side, nude. Although some say it's a work of art, others say it's offensive.

Ferguson said. He believes the controversy over his work really exposes people's misunderstanding of art. But beauty is in the eye of the beholder. And there are some who describe the painting as offensive. They argue it should be moved back.

At one point, after complaints, the painting was taken down, but it was put back on display after supporters encouraged Ferguson and the gallery to do so. Supporters such as Escondido city officials have found nothing wrong with Ferguson's window display, in fact one of the painting's fans is the mayor. "I mean, it's not in your face, and it's a beautiful painting and people should have a chance to see it," said Escondido Mayor Lori Holt Pfeiler. The painting will remain on display through Feb. 4.

Los Angeles Bans Unprotected Sex

New regulations passed by the Los Angeles County board of supervisors bans unprotected sex in all county commercial sex venues (such as bathhouses and sex clubs) and requires them to pay $1,088 in annual licensing fees and undergo quarterly health inspections, the Los Angeles Times reports.

All sex clubs and bathhouses will be required to display signs and posters stating that unprotected sex is prohibited by patrons, and they must provide free condoms, lubricant, and information on HIV prevention and safer sex.

Owners of sex venues also are now required to prohibit entry to anyone appearing to be under the influence of drugs or alcohol. The measure, passed 3–0 by county supervisors, also requires commercial sex venues to offer HIV antibody testing and counseling.

County health officials are expected to begin issuing permits in mid February. Sex clubs and bathhouses must begin offering at least 20 hours of HIV testing and counseling availability per week beginning March 1, according to the new rules.

Venues that don’t comply with all new regulations can be shut down. The new regulations were passed by supervisors following studies showing that patrons of commercial sex venues were significantly more likely to be HIV-positive than the general population and were more likely to engage in unprotected sex, often with multiple partners during a single visit to a sex club or bathhouse.

Scott Campbell, president of a firm that runs three bathhouses in Los Angeles, told the Times he believes the new regulations unfairly target sex clubs as primary facilitators of unprotected sex and of placing gay men at risk for HIV and other sexually transmitted diseases. He notes that many gay men meet and engage in unprotected sex with partners they meet through Internet sites or at area bars and nightclubs.

He also said his three commercial sex venues already spent $200,000 annually on safer-sex materials and HIV prevention information before the new regulations were approved. The Times did not mention what county supervisors and health officials consider to be unprotected sex as to whether the definition applies specifically to anal sex or includes oral sex.

Religion Says Nudity During Sex Not Allowed?

According to the religious edict issued by Rashad Hassan Khalil, a former dean of Al-Azhar University's faculty of Sharia (or Islamic law), "being completely naked during the act of coitus annuls the marriage".

The religious decree sparked a hot debate on the private satellite network Dream's popular religious talk show and on the front page of Sunday's Al-Masri Al-Yom, Egypt's leading independent daily newspaper. Suad Saleh, who heads the women's department of Al-Azhar's Islamic studies faculty, pleaded for "anything that can bring spouses closer to each other" and rejected the claim that nudity during intercourse could invalidate a union.

During the live televised debate, Islamic scholar Abdel Muti dismissed the fatwa: "Nothing is prohibited during marital sex, except of course sodomy." For his part, Al-Azhar's fatwa committee chairman Abdullah Megawar argued that married couples could see each other naked but should not look at each other's genitalia and suggested they cover up with a blanket during sex.

AIM Healthcare Foundation has become aware of an increasing number of adult performers reporting skin infections that have been diagnosed as “staph” infections. Dr. Sharon Mitchell, Ph.D., told AVN.com that “this can be contagious and is treatable with antibiotics…the trick is to detect, and diagnose it early on.”

Most staph skin infections are minor (such as pimples and boils) and can be treated without antibiotics (also known as antimicrobials or antibacterials). However, staph bacteria also can cause serious infections.

Mitchell, executive director at AIM, went on to say that “signs and symptoms include: localized swelling, redness discharge, and bump on the skin that looks like an oily, pussy pimple that won’t go away.
