Sex.com Thief Arrested

The man who stole the Sex.com domain name from its rightful owner, has been arrested in Mexico and handed to US officials. Stephen Michael Cohen was arrested on an immigration violation by Mexican authorities and turned over to the US border patrol yesterday, the LA Times has reported. Cohen is being held without bail at the Metropolitan Correctional Center in San Diego, according to deputy marshal Tania Tyler of the US immigration service.

Cohen is wanted in the US for failure to pay $65m in a court judgment reached in April 2001. The judgment was the result of a five-year court battle by the original owner of the domain, Gary Kremen, which nearly bankrupted the entrepreneur and founder of the net's biggest dating site, Match.com.

Kremen was awarded the sum in compensation after Cohen stole Sex.com in October 1995 through an elaborate scam. Cohen then ran the site at an estimated $100m profit until the domain was finally handed back to Kremen by the court in November 2000. As soon as he lost the case however, Cohen fled across the US border to Tijuana and refused to return. He then began to illegally siphon his money from US bank accounts to offshore tax havens through a series of ingenious shell companies. In May 2001, Cohen was officially made a fugitive from justice by the US authorities.

More Study Of The Clitoris Needed

Pioneering urologist Dr. Helen O'Connell says the clitoris just hasn't got enough respect from her fellow doctors -- and she's been working to change that. O'Connell, the first female urologist in Australia and chief of neuro-urology and continence at Royal Melbourne Hospital, recently published a paper that describes in detail the anatomy of the clitoris and its importance in female sexual function.

She first became interested in the anatomy of the clitoris as a urology trainee when she realized preserving sexual function in women having pelvic surgery was pure guesswork. In contrast, the retention of sexual function in men undergoing prostate removal was paramount. "There was no description of the clitoris in the main textbook that was being used to prepare surgeons in training. There was no diagram, and in the diagram of the pelvis no clitoris was evident," O'Connell says.

She undertook in the 1990s to dissect a series of female cadavers and document, layer by layer, the anatomy of the clitoris. Then, with magnetic resonance imaging, she was able to document live anatomy in healthy volunteers. This research has led to better education of medical students about the clitoris, better sexual health for women undergoing pelvic surgery and some brand-new observations.

According to O'Connell, the urethra, clitoris and vagina are intimately related structures, which form a tissue cluster. "This cluster appears to be the locus of female sexual function and orgasm," she explains. "The supporting tissue of the clitoris, which keeps it in a bent position rather than becoming pendular (like a penis), and keeps it stable in relation to the urethra and labia, is very extensive. It is a different shape to the male supporting structure."

O'Connell has received a great deal of attention since her first paper about the clitoris was published in 1998. It has taken seven years, but her discoveries are now included in the medical curriculum at the University of Melbourne. She says she hopes the information will have a much wider dissemination. "Where the clitoris is situated and how it responds/expands with sexual stimulation should be known by women and men," she says.

Alberstons Bans Seventeen Magazine Issue

Albertsons' 2,500 stores has refused to stock the October issue of Seventeen Magazine because it contains an article 'Vagina 101'. But the store still stocks Men's Health magazine containing an article 'Six Secret Ways to Turn Her On'. At least the men should know what to do.

The article, titled "Vagina 101," shows a drawing of a woman's genitalia with arrows pointing out the clitoris, the labia majora, the labia minora, the hymen and the anus. It provides a short description of each part of the anatomy, under the headline "Owner's Manual." On the second page, the author addresses what's normal and what's not. The Idaho-based Albertsons' corporate office issued a statement saying it pulled the October issue after receiving complaints from customers who considered the article "inappropriate." The company has refused further comment.
