The men shared some of the problems they have in keeping a relationship with a woman, who often complain of painful sexual experiences. One man referred to relations with his partner as “a brutal and strenuous act of affection.”

In a recent conservative report, Josh Montez wrote that many people see a connection between the porn industry and those forced into the sex trade.

Here’s another reason to fight pornography, Montez writes; it feeds human sex trafficking. 18,000 people from around the world are sold into sex slavery in the United States and 70 percent of Internet porn is produced here claims Montez.

Wade Horn, of the Department of Health and Human Services, says there is a connection. “By viewing hard core pornography, it can lower the threshold of some individuals in participating in actual acts of sexual violence or perhaps participating in other aspects of this sex industry such as prostitution.” Montez’s story goes on to say that Donna Hughes researches human trafficking for the University of Rhode Island.

She calls pornography and human trafficking the same thing. “Because of the evolution of the laws in this country we somehow think that pornography is not connected with prostitution. In fact, the very meaning of the word pornography is the photography of prostitutes.” Daniel Weiss with Focus on the Family Action, a vehemently right wing group, believes the key to fighting human trafficking rests with the Department of Justice enforcing existing obscenity laws.

“Unless the President really gets tough on the trafficking in obscenity here in the U.S., I’m afraid we’re not going to see any real decrease in trafficking in actual human beings.” The story concludes by saying that Weiss complains that many obscenity laws aren’t being enforced; pointing out it’s a felony to transport, distribute, disseminate, sell or give away obscene material.

Commentary Regarding Article- Again, we are seeing the government looking to work against, not collaborate with legitimate companies in the adult industry to make outrageous claims that have nothing to do with what they do. It would be like saying that taking an aspirin is somehow related to illicit drug use. It's not related, and we are not buying it Montez. Your need to demonized legitimate, law abiding adult companies by throwing out the baby with the bath water mentality is ridiculous and manipulative and a far cry from those who are really trying to be a positive change to the world.

WASHINGTON — Employees at the Department of Homeland Security may be doing more than purporting to protect the country from terrorism. According to a report by DHS Inspector General Richard Skinner, a lot of them also may be looking at porn while on the clock. Skinner filed a report Friday outlining a recent internal computer network test that uncovered 65 million security alerts on DHS computers, 6.5 million of which could have been caused by employees seeking out pornographic content on DHS computers.

According to the report, most of the “detect.misuse.porn” alerts returned in the test came from 16 computers on the department’s network, though Skinner said he could not pinpoint the specific machines that triggered the alerts, a fact he attributes to a flaw in the existing system. As such, Skinner’s report called for the DHS to more effectively use its internal security tools, saying the current alert system was too broad.

An additional problem he discovered with the porn alerts, for example, was that the system would automatically trigger if questionable words appeared inside a harmless search string, such that keying in the term “behavioral” would set off the porn alert that targets the world “oral.” The report also concluded that the number of alerts at the DHS had risen considerably in recent years, jumping from about 5.4 million alerts each month to more than 21.5 million in early 2005, the time period studied in the report. Skinner provided no analysis as to what may have caused the increase.

As a way to crack down on online sexual predators, Montana Senator Max Baucus wants to tax Internet pornographers, require porn websites use age-verification software and create a cyber crime task force in Great Falls, Montana. Baucus, the ranking Democrat on the Senate Finance Committee, unveiled his plan to attack cyber crime against children and said he intends to introduce some of the plan, "Cyber Safety for Kids," to Congress in the coming weeks.

His plan outlines ways to regulate adult sites by making users verify that they are over age 18 before entering, requiring that banks and other merchants process only those transactions that are age-verified and imposing a mandatory 25 percent tax on access of adult websites.

The plan also calls for establishing the .xxx domain specifically for adult sites, as grouping adult sites should keep kids from mistakenly entering them, Baucus said. A portion of the tax revenue would pay for a 24-hour cyber tip line and a chunk would go for cyber crime enforcement, Baucus said.

Senate Porn Hearing Raises Some Alarms

Whether the adult Internet industry wants to believe it or not, Congress very well may have mandating dot-XXX URLs for all adult websites on its mind.

Senate Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation, committee member Mark Pryor (D-Ark.) said “Clean up your act, or we’ll do it for you.” Pryor was not the only committee member to suggest Congress is more than willing to start mandating some severe guidelines for online smut. Committee Chairman Sen. Ted Stevens (R-Ak.) was among the most forceful and obviously anti-porn voices in the room. He compared the adult entertainment industry unfavorably with the broadcast industries, which have rated their content voluntarily (with a bit of help from the Federal Communications Commission) for years.

Tim Lordan, executive director of the Internet Education Foundation, agreed that finding strategies to empower parents in their efforts to keep children away from porn is important. The difficulty, he said, is “whatever a parent thinks is objectionable, that’s pornography to them.”

Perhaps the most chilling recommendation offered to the committee came from Laura Parksy, the deputy assistant attorney general for the Department of Justice’s Criminal Division.

In response to a question from Stevens about what Congress could do to facilitate the prosecution of child pornography and obscenity – both of which are major focuses for her division – Parsky gave several answers: strengthen the official recognition of the nexus between child pornography and commerce; strengthen the records-keeping requirements of 18 U.S.C. 2257, especially as it applies to secondary producers, and encourage the administration and all US allies to back the Council of Europe Treaty Against Cybercrime.

As Parsky explained it, the treaty would bring all foreign countries’ laws “up to speed with US laws”, thereby facilitating the DoJ’s enforcement of US child pornography and obscenity laws worldwide.
