Penis Injections Dangerous

Thailand's health ministry warned size-obsessed men to avoid trying to enlarge their penises with liquid injections, saying it could cause deformities. The warning followed media reports that male teenagers in central Thailand had rushed to have their penises injected with olive oil or other liquids. "Injecting olive oil or any liquid into penises is extremely risky," Chatri Banchuin, chief of the Department of Medical Services, said after his office issued the public warning.

The practice of injecting liquids -- everything from paraffin to lubricant gel -- has gone on for decades, surgeons say, but their patients are getting younger. "More and more patients are school age boys, not men in their 30s or 40s like in the past," said urologist Wachira Kochawkarn of Bangkok's Ramathibodi Hospital. "At my hospital alone, I treat one or two patients a day who have such problems. Imagine the total number across the country?"

Impotent Ex-husband Sued

An impotent Italian man who kept his problem a secret from his wife until after their wedding must pay her damages for 'eroding' her right to have a family, Italy's Supreme Court has ruled. The woman, identified by the Italian media as Cristina S., was quick to get her marriage annulled in the 1990s after learning to her horror that her husband could not consummate it. She then demanded damages, saying she had been robbed of her "right to sexuality" and the promise of a family.

Despite losing legal battles in lower courts, she kept appealing, and finally the Supreme Court found in her favor. "Her fundamental right (was) eroded to fully realize a family, as a woman and a wife, and eventually as a mother," according to excerpts from the court ruling published in Italian newspapers. The amount of damages will be settled by a lower court in Sicily, where the unhappy couple were married.

A congressional subcommittee voted to subpoena the owner of Puck Technology of Signal Hill, California, the company that makes the Whizzinator.

Actor Tom Sizemore, who played a sergeant in the war movie "Saving Private Ryan," was caught using the Whizzinator to try and pass drug tests, California prosecutors said. He was put in jail after using a similar device and failing a drug test, prosecutors said.

Newlyweds Sue Hotel For Bedroom Injury

A ridiculous newlywed couple in Shanghai have filed a complaint against a local hotel after the groom broke his arm during bedroom fun and games. Yu Haitao and bride Fang Shuling were taking part in traditional tease-the-newly-weds celebrations when Yu tumbled off the bed breaking his left arm.

"My husband slipped right after he stood up on the bed to get ready for the games," Fang said. "It happened within seconds without any big movement." Yu, 28, who underwent a 20,000 yuan ($2,415) operation, and Fang said the hotel had provided unsafe facilities. The hotel management denied any responsibility as they should when a kuncklehead does this to himself.

Marriage Prospects Looking Bleak

An acute water shortage in central India has made it tough for men of one village to find wives, because families are reluctant to condemn their daughters to a life of hardship.

The only well near Karhod village in Madhya Pradesh state is several miles away, and the women spend hours a day fetching water. Then in summer, the well dries up, causing even greater difficulty. In rural India, it is the duty of women to fetch water. When people come to know that their daughter will have to trudge several miles to fetch a couple of pots of water after marriage, which parent will agree?

Obscenity Prosecution Task Force?

The US Department of Justice has announced the establishment of an Obscenity Prosecution Task Force dedicated exclusively to the investigation and prosecution of obscenity cases. The Task Force will consist of DOJ attorneys from a number of Criminal Division Sections in addition to the usual trial attorneys from the Child Exploitation and Obscenity Section. Attorney General Gonzales is leading the effort. Only time will tell what rights they may be infringing upon consenting adults as "obscene."

Video Taping Those Who Shop At Adult Stores

A Proposed adult ordinance has been postponed by the city council here after threats of legal action by First Amendment attorneys Jonathan Katz and Howard Schulman, representing local adult businesses.

Under the proposed ordinance, existing businesses would not have to move from their current locations. But the law would require them to comply with increased governmental regulations–including a new permitting process and video surveillance. The law would require existing businesses to install video cameras or other recording devices to monitor “exterior entrances and parking areas” and provide “clear imagery” of patrons and their vehicles.

Police would have access to such tapes for up to one year. Those provisions violate the First Amendment, said Katz and Schulman. Part of the stated justification for tabling the ordinance was to strengthen it by citing studies and other evidence of harms due to secondary effects. A city attorney was asked to draft a “preamble” documenting such harms.

Women Beware Of Hager Taking Away Your Rights

President Bush has announced his plan to select Dr. W. David Hager to head up the Food and Drug Administration's (FDA) Reproductive Health Drugs Advisory Committee. The FDA's Reproductive Health Drugs Advisory Committee makes crucial decisions on matters relating to drugs used in the practice of obstetrics, gynecology and related specialties, including hormone therapy, contraception, treatment for infertility, and medical alternatives to surgical procedures for sterilization and pregnancy termination.

Dr. Hager's views of reproductive health care are far outside the mainstream for reproductive technology. Dr. Hager is a practicing OB/GYN who describes himself as "pro-life" and refuses to prescribe contraceptives to unmarried women.

Hager is the author of "As Jesus Cared for Women: Restoring Women Then and Now." The book blends biblical accounts of Christ healing women with case studies from Hager's practice. In the book Dr. Hager wrote with his wife, entitled "Stress and the Woman's Body," he suggests that women who suffer from premenstrual syndrome should seek help from reading the bible and praying.

As an editor and contributing author of "The Reproduction Revolution: A Christian Appraisal of Sexuality Reproductive Technologies and the Family," Dr. Hager appears to have endorsed the medically inaccurate assertion that the common birth Control pill is an abortifacient. Hager's mission is religiously motivated.

He has an ardent interest in revoking approval for mifepristone (formerly known as RU-486) as a safe and early form of medical abortion. Hagar recently assisted the Christian Medical Association in a "citizen's petition" which calls upon the FDA to revoke its approval of mifepristone in the name of women's health. Hager's desire to overturn mifepristone's approval on religious grounds rather than scientific merit would halt the development of mifepristone as a treatment for numerous medical conditions disproportionately affecting women, including breast cancer, uterine cancer, uterine fibroid tumors, psychotic depression, bipolar depression and Cushing's syndrome.

Women rely on the FDA to ensure their access to safe and effective drugs for reproductive health care including products that prevent pregnancy. For some women, such as those with certain types of diabetes and those undergoing treatment for cancer, pregnancy can be a life-threatening condition.

We are concerned that Dr. Hager's strong religious beliefs may color his assessment of technologies that are necessary to protect women's lives or to preserve and promote women's health. Hager's track record of using religious beliefs to guide his medical decision-making makes him a dangerous and inappropriate candidate to serve as chair of this committee.

Hager Raped Wife?

Linda Carruth Davis his former wife of thirty-two years has said that her ex-husband's public moralizing on sexual matters clashed with his deplorable treatment of her during their marriage. Davis alleges that between 1995 and their divorce in 2002, Hager repeatedly sodomized her without her consent.

Lesbian Banned From Foster Parenting

A lesbian who has spent her life helping children is challenging a Missouri policy barring lesbian and gay people from serving as foster parents. Represented by the ACLU, Lisa Johnston is challenging the policy in state court after an administrative judge denied her application solely because she is a lesbian.

Johnston has a deep commitment to helping children -- in her current job with Head Start, she consults with childcare homes on developmentally appropriate curricula. In 2003, she applied to the Department of Social Services (DSS) to become a foster parent to a child that she and her partner hoped to raise together. After completing seven of nine foster-parent training sessions, DSS notified Johnston that because she is a lesbian, it would no longer consider her for placement.

Johnston appealed the decision, and although the administrative judge found her "exceptionally" qualified to foster parent, he denied her application in March 2005 solely because of her sexual orientation.

On April 8, the ACLU filed a petition in the Jackson County Circuit Court asking the court to review the order from DSS. The ACLU charges that DSS's decision banning Johnston from foster parenting is illegal. Under Missouri law, every potential foster parent is already required to undergo strict screening before being qualified to foster parent. Categorical bans like the one enacted by DSS don't protect children, but merely unnecessarily disqualify people who could be good parents.

Australian Cab Drivers Hustling Hookers

Police have launched an investigation into Queensland's taxi industry following claims that drivers are extorting money from brothels by threatening to deliver clients to rival businesses.

Detective Inspector Mike Sparke of Queensland's Prostitution Enforcement Taskforce said allegations of drivers demanding money from brothels were widespread and occurred across Australia. "We are conducting an investigation to establish whether any offenses are being committed and whether there is a need for legislative review," Inspector Sparke said.

The investigation follows complaints from Queensland's 14 licensed brothels that they are being threatened - sometimes with violence - by drivers if they do not pay a "finders fee" for delivering men to their doors. In most cases it is believed drivers are demanding between $10 and $20 for each client.

"We know of one case two years ago when a cab driver broke down the door of a brothel on the Gold Coast that refused to pay him $40 for dropping off a client," said Nick Inskip, spokesman for the Queensland Adult Business Association. "What we don't want to see is taxi drivers spruiking on behalf of brothels." Mr Inskip said about 80 per cent of brothel clients were delivered by taxis.

The problem arises in situations where a customer asks a taxi driver to be taken to a brothel without nominating a particular business. It is said that some drivers are demanding payment from licensees when they deliver customers to the brothels ... This practice is clearly an undesirable practice. Throughout the 1990s, taxi drivers in Melbourne were paid about $5 for every customer they delivered to several city strip clubs.

But bowing to those demands, say experts like Jodi Jacobson of the U.S.-based Center for Health and Gender Equity, would mean contradicting crucial civic cooperation undergirding Brazil's AIDS program, considered a model by international health organizations.

State Representative Al Edwards (D-Houston) has introduced a bill which would clamp down on bumping and grinding in high school cheerleading routines. In the latest development, the Texas House has approved Edwards’ bill by a vote of 65-56.

Well, that’s a jaw-dropper, but it’s still amusing, and the further this proposal goes the more ridiculous it looks for Texas lawmakers to concern themselves about cheerleader routines.

However, there is a darker side to such matters when seen in connection with the gathering momentum of a national moralistic clampdown across a wide range of even the most innocent behaviors if they have any sort of sexy aspect to them. Edwards, who as a legislator has fought against suggestive pop lyrics and once advocated cutting off drug dealers’ fingers, has said that inappropriate cheerleading routines contribute to a social atmosphere that encourages teen pregnancy, poor scholastic performance, criminality and the spread of sexually transmitted diseases.
